ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Physics was established in the academic year 2022–23. The department offers the B.Sc. Physics degree programme under the UG programme affiliated with RTM Nagpur University. The Department of Physics has been enhanced with the New Education Policy (NEP 2020) and is offering a 4-year B.Sc. Physics programme for students. As per the New Education Policy, Physics is introduced as a major subject for students. The curriculum focuses on developing scientific knowledge, analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities and practical skills. The B.Sc. Physics programme includes important areas such as Mechanics, Properties of Matter, Electricity & Magnetism, Optics, Semiconductor Physics, Quantum Physics, Nuclear Physics, Communication and related practical applications. The programme under NEP 2020 also promotes skill development, practical applications, ICT-based learning, projects, seminars and interdisciplinary learning to prepare students for higher education and various career opportunities.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE & ASSESSMENT (NEP 2020)

• Duration: 4 Academic Years / 8 Semesters
• Curriculum: Core, elective, skill enhancement & value-added courses
• Teaching: Student-centred teaching with ICT tools, PPTs, practicals, virtual learning, projects, seminars & visits
• Assessment: Continuous Internal Evaluation (CIE) & Semester End Examination (SEE)
